The Dreams of the Stupid

Yet the stupid consider themselves awake.

而愚者自以為覺。

They think they are crystal clear about everything.

竊竊然知之。

They consider this person a ruler and that person a shepherd. How ignorant they truly are!

君乎，牧乎，固哉！

You and Confucius are both dreaming.

丘也，與女皆夢也。

When I say that you are dreaming, I am also dreaming.

予謂女夢，亦夢也。

These words are known as the Great Paradox.

是其言也，其名為弔詭。
